Our School & Story

The Kosovski Bozuri Folk Dance Ensemble at Holy Apostles Saints Peter and Paul Serbian Orthodox Parish boasts a rich history, tracing its roots back to its founding in 1984. Initially established with a vision to preserve and promote Serbian dance traditions in North America, the ensemble has flourished into a vibrant community of over 70 children, ranging in age from 4 to 18 years old.

Dedicated to sharing the beauty of folklore and song, the ensemble embodies the spirit of cultural preservation and celebration. Through spirited performances, they bring to life the rich tapestry of Serbian heritage, captivating audiences with their graceful movements and infectious enthusiasm.

A cornerstone of the parish's cultural life, the Kosovski Božuri Folk Dance Ensemble is a fixture at various church functions, including the annual St. Sava celebration and the eagerly anticipated Folklorama held every April. Their performances serve as a testament to the enduring legacy of Serbian culture, captivating audiences with their dynamic displays of traditional dance and music. Beyond the confines of their parish, the ensemble extends its reach, participating in local events, visiting other parishes, and even embarking on journeys across the United States. Their commitment to cultural exchange has taken them beyond national borders, with memorable performances in Serbia forging lasting friendships with fellow Orthodox children.

At its core, the ensemble is a testament to the power of community and volunteerism. Operating as a not-for-profit organization, it relies on the dedication of parents and volunteers who work tirelessly to support their children's passion for Serbian traditions. Together, they create a nurturing environment where traditions are upheld, memories are made, and friendships are forged, ensuring that the legacy of Serbian folklore continues to thrive for generations to come.
